A .425 WEBLEY (1 5/16in. WEBLEY) SNIDER PATENT SINGLE-SHOT SPORTING RIFLE SIGNED D. THOMAS, CARDIFF, no visible serial number,
dated for 1872, with round 27in. barrel, dove-tailed blade fore-sight, standing notch rear-sight with two additional folding leaves, the top of barrel signed 'D. THOMAS, 3 BROAD ST. CARDIFF', plain receiver with flip-open breech and marked with Snider trademarks, (traces of colour), borderline engraved top-tang and bar-action lock, the latter signed 'D. THOMAS', chequered walnut half-stock with iron shotgun heel-plate, the right side of butt with brass inlet oval plaque engraved 'PRESENTED TO C.J.N. GRAY ESQ. BY THE WORKMEN OF THE DEEP DUFFRYN 7 NAVIGATION COLLIERIES AS A SLIGHT TOKEN OF THEIR RESPECT & ESTEEM, DEC. 1872', guarded trigger and moulded horn tip to the fore-end
